Almost every visitor reaches Nusa Penida by fast boat from Sanur. Here is how the timetable works, what each ticket type means and what it costs.
The short answer
- Boats leave Sanur every day from 06.30, and leave Nusa Penida from 08.00 until 17.00.
- A return ticket for international passports is IDR 350,000. One way is IDR 200,000.
- An open return lets you choose your return day later.
- Arrive at the Semabu Hill counter at Sanur harbour 30 minutes before departure.
1. Fast boat timetable
From Sanur: 06.30, 07.00, 07.30, 08.00, 08.30, 09.00, 09.30, 10.00, 10.30, 12.00, 13.00 and 15.00.
From Nusa Penida: 08.00, 12.00, 13.30, 14.30, 15.00, 15.30, 16.00, 16.30 and 17.00.
Times can change with sea conditions. If a departure moves, we tell you on WhatsApp.
2. One way, return or open return?
- Return: the usual choice for a day trip. You go in the morning and come back the same afternoon. You can also return on a later date.
- One way: for guests who leave Nusa Penida another way, or who are not sure yet how they will continue their trip.
- Open return: you buy the return now, but you do not fix the return day. Message us on WhatsApp once you know when you want to go back, and we confirm your seat.
3. Ticket prices
International visitors also pay the island retribution of IDR 25,000 per person, once per visit. It is not part of the boat ticket. See our entrance fee guide for details.
4. How you get your ticket
After you book, we send your boat voucher on WhatsApp. Show it at the Semabu Hill counter at Sanur harbour, and on the way back at the counter on Nusa Penida. There you receive your boat ticket. Hotel pickup in Bali is not included, so plan your own ride to Sanur.

5. Boat only, or a full tour?
If you only buy the boat, you arrange your own transport, tickets and lunch on the island. Our day tours include the return boat, a private car with driver, lunch, retribution and entrance tickets in one price per person, starting from IDR 540,000 per person for a group of 6.
