Renting a car with a driver is the usual way to get around Nusa Penida. The car price covers less than many visitors expect, so it helps to know what you still pay on the day.
The short answer
- The car price covers the car, the driver and petrol.
- Entrance tickets, island retribution, lunch and boat tickets are not part of it.
- The price is per car, not per person. One car takes up to 6 guests.
1. What the car price covers
You get one private car for your group for the whole day, a driver who knows the roads and the viewpoints, and petrol. You choose the route: west, east, or both sides in one day.
2. What you pay separately
- Island retribution: IDR 25,000 per person for international visitors, paid once per visit.
- Entrance tickets: IDR 25,000 per person at each ticketed spot. Some neighbouring spots share one ticket.
- Lunch.
- Fast boat tickets, if you come from Bali.
For the full list of tickets, see our entrance fee guide.
3. What it costs
A group of 7 or more needs a second car. A single transfer between your hotel and the harbour is IDR 300,000 per car, one way.
4. Car only, or a full tour?
Car only suits guests who are already staying on the island and want to pay for tickets and lunch themselves. If you come from Bali for the day, a tour package is usually simpler: the boat, car and driver, lunch, retribution and entrance tickets are in one price per person.
